Everyday Foods For Healthier Skin

We see plenty of advertising for anti-aging products. I think we both know that nothing will reverse the process of aging but we can do certain things in our daily lives as preventive measures.

Antioxidants are something to include in each meal. Pack up your fridge and cupboard with antioxidant rich foods, including antioxidant-rich foods every day is an easy way to protect your cells.

Antioxidants fight free radicals. Free radicals exist in the body but living a certain lifestyle can increase free radicals and speed up signs of aging. Some well-known lifestyles to avoid are smoking, over-consumption of alcohol, manage stress and avoid highly processed foods.

Green Tea – Go organic and play with different flavors (choose natural and avoid synthetically flavored teas. Shop Silk Road

Berries – Throw some berries in your smoothie, on your oatmeal, add them to your snack with raw nuts. Blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries are your friend

Brightly coloured veggies – Yellow peppers, red peppers, sweet potato, leafy greens. You can eat raw, steam, roast, bake, add to soups, stews. It’s easy to add colours to your meals. Eat often.

Raw nuts and seeds – raw nuts like walnuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds are easy to add as a snack, add to salads.

Cold Water Fish – oily fish like salmon, mackerel and herring are rich in omega 3 fatty acids. Choose ocean wise products.

These suggestions are all whole food based, meaning little to no processing. The more whole food based items you can include in daily meals, the more nutrients you will get.
